Essence of Jainism

Ahimsa

Do not hurt others by your thoughts, words, actions or deeds. A thought of violence is considered to be a precursor to the violent act itself and is therefore considered wrong.

Anekant

Believe that people of diverse views to your own are also right.

Aprigraha

Do not seek things or run after them, accept gratefully what comes your way. Discharge your responsibility with fullest dedication with minimum attachment but stay away from a bonding, which has the potential of hurting at a time separation may occur.

Avalokan

Be your own watchman, i.e. watch constantly your thoughts, deeds and actions even while you are performing them. This will raise your level from that of a ordinary mortal to an extension of the Supreme Being.

Raaga (Bonding)

Obsessive bonding with people, property and ideas though appearing to bring intense joy in the short run will definitely lead to high levels of sorrow because no person, thing or concept can remain here or be relevant for ever.

Dwesha

Resentment leads to enmity. This is the one factor which can destroy quality life and existence for a noble or beneficial purpose. Understand it as doing to the human being what a virus does to a computer.

Atma Sanyam

Self-control. This begins with control over the habits. Propagation of the significance of this is for which Vyasan Mukta Pariwar has been founded. If the mind has to be free from being a slave of the body than, control over habits and senses is the first step.

Ahankar

Ego leads to arrogance. The most difficult to destroy in one self. Best possible by surrendering to a Sadguru. Your Sadguru is that noble soul who accepts you whole heartedly without any consideration to your social position or power, seeing only the goodness in you and having the desire to raise the spiritual quotient in you.
